For small to medium size grows, I always use this G.E. Home Depot high flow water filters prior to a Hydro Logic R.O. filters, depending on how dirty your water is, it definitely prolongs the R.O. membrane life.

 

If you Run Humidifiers in your spot but do not have the room or capability to have R.O. water to pump thru them use one of these, it will DRASTICALLY reduce the white film that will eventually build up in say 4 to 6 months of running a humidifier with hard tap water, ( seen it first hand on a location that had pretty good tap water at 70 ppm and eventually had build up).

 

If there is white film on your stuff that means there is white film on your plant that MAY clog the ability of the stomata to breath at 100%. Plus it's definitely on your buds and trichomes.The filter inside is a felt filter but they also have carbon filter inserts, the see thru Acrylic housing is dope because you can see if it's dirty enough to replace it. 

Note:  *if stomata are blocked, gaseous exchange would be affected which would decrease photosynthesis, and the plant might eventually die.*
